Building a wall

The basement – containing the laundry room, workshop, storage, homeowner-y things like the sump pump – was only accessible via the first floor. Because we wanted to rent that space out (the owners lived there before we bought this place), we decided to push back the wall and door and create a hallway.

But it’s an old house and the walls are all a little crooked, so we couldn’t build it on the floor and raise it up.Instead, we bought a pre-hung door and husband built the wall all around it standing up. Another project that took all day Saturday and half of Sunday. We unfortunately didn’t have a chance to finish sanding down the compound, prime and paint the wall before our renters moved in (joint compound was taking forever to dry), but we’re going to finish painting it this weekend.
