Electrical Inspection Part Deux

After our failed electrical inspection we were worried that the same department of buildings guy (who was on a power trip of his own) would return and fail us again. He demanded we install the air conditioner, had the electrician remove every single outlet cover and claimed that the circuit box was not wired correctly. Not only that, he attempted to give a violation for work done in the basement to our current electrician from a prior electrician. Mind you the work in the basement was filed properly and also passed its inspection.

But the good news is, we passed! Some paperwork needs to still go through, but we had a different inspector that basically shook his head in disbelief at the various things the prior inspector had pointed out. But wait, there’s more. Apparently, the earlier inspector is notorious among the department of buildings. He was originally kicked out of Brooklyn, then Manhattan and now he’s back in Brooklyn again. He also fails basically every inspection he does. Our electrician said that he had done a job awhile back where this guy demanded he put an outlet for an air conditioner in a room with no windows.

The bad news is, our temporary meters in the basement are not delivering 220 volts so in order to get our new air conditioner running we need to get Cone Head out to our house.
